Right after the speech, gold and silver rallied to new highs. He obviously did not inspire any confidence into the markets. As long as Bernanke is at the helm, we can all expect nothing but inflation. Bernanke said that commoditiy prices aren’t the cause of inflation. Yes, he’s right. The commodity prices are a result of the inflation – inflation that he is causing. Inflation is the worst in countries that have tied their currency closely to the Dollar. Bernanke said he is only going to worry about inflation until it begins to seep into the core. He doesn’t care how much the headline CPI or energy prices go up, as long as the core number doesn’t go up. If food and energy keep going up, people won’t have any money to buy anything else. With regards to the gold standard, Bernanke said that there isn’t enough gold in the world to run the economy that way. That is nonsense, and is a statement that could only come from someone who doesn’t understand gold at all. It doesn’t matter how much gold there is. The chairman of the Fed bank of St. Louis said that the Fed isn’t responsible for inflation in other countries because they made their own choice to tie their currency to the dollar. Dollar continues its downward trend against other currencies for several straight weeks. Dollar is stalling at the 80.50 level. The government may step in with more government stimulus if there is a growing concern with jobs, housing, surging oil prices. Stimulus is throwing gas on the fire of inflation. As, the Dollar loses value, more Dollars are needed for merchandise imported. Fewer imports could mean higher prices for America. This would force down prices for the domestic country making those goods. Allows their currency to go up, allowing them to purchase their own goods.

This is amazing. With the Dow rallying to 11000 in January of 2006, Peter Schiff tells CNBC market cheerleader Liz (now currently with FOX) about the coming economic crash being led by the fundamental flaws in the dollar. No one listened to this man back then. Back then, he was alone in his view that the US was overconsuming, overindebted, undermanufacturing and undersaving. EVERYTHING this man has predicted has come true except for one. He predicted the dollar would completely collapse and precious metals would soar. Actually, Gold is far outperforming the stock market so I am VERY happy I sold stocks and bought gold, but the dollar recently has been even better than gold. Schiff says that will change. He says now that it is a CERTAINTY the US currency will collapse and take the entire economy down with it. When this video aired, DOW was at 11000 and GOLD was at 0. Now the DOW is 7500 and GOLD is 0. Well, I am sure happy as heck I own Gold, how bout you? The DOW is now only worth 10 ounces of GOLD, Schiff says that the DOW and GOLD will eventually share a 1:1 ratio. I believe him. By the way Liz, Schiff is not a bad guy at all.
